The HKETO held a business conference and a reception in Jakarta, Indonesia on 24 June to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and to strengthen economic, trade and people-to-people ties between Hong Kong, Indonesia and the ASEAN.
The business conference in the morning was first graced by the virtual keynote address by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR, Mr Edward YAU, and the Minister of Trade of Indonesia, Dr Zulkifli Hasan, followed by a panel discussion on the theme “Emerging Stronger with Closer Collaboration and Partnership” between prominent business leaders from both Hong Kong and Indonesia moderated by the Director-General of Investment Promotion of the HKSAR, Mr Stephen Philips. The conference was concluded with a closing notes by the Director-General of the HKETO, Mr LAW Kin-wai.
At the reception held in the same evening, Secretary YAU also addressed the attending guests with an online speech. The Director-General of the HKETO, Mr LAW Kin-wai, together with dignitaries including the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr Lu Kang; the Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN, Mr Deng Xijun; the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, Mr Tran Duc Binh; and the Regional Director of Southeast Asia and South Asia of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Mr Peter Wong, hosted a toasting ceremony to celebrate the milestone of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR.
The business conference and the reception were well attended, with respectively some 240 and some 180 participants from local government agencies, business communities and the media.
